Pitney Bowes Joins Online Trust Alliance as Appointee to Steering Committee

Company Demonstrates Continued Leadership and Commitment to Security Best Practices and Consumer Protection

STAMFORD, Conn., February 22, 2012 - Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE: PBI) today announced its membership to the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) in support of the Company's dedication to enhancing online trust and securing the vitality and innovation of the internet. Pitney Bowes has joined the steering committee of the OTA which develops and provides best practices in the areas of online data privacy and security.

Formed in 2007, OTA is a trusted global leading organization in data privacy and security which represents the broad internet ecosystem and supports user choice and control. Other fundamental components of OTA include protection and critical infrastructure, privacy and data governance, promoting and marketing best practices, balanced legislation, benchmark reporting and self-governance.

As a member of the OTA steering committee, Pitney Bowes will collaborate with other thought leaders across multiple businesses, industries, law enforcement, and government agencies --including Microsoft, PayPal, Symantec, VeriSign and others -- to establish the framework and guidelines to increase consumer protection, and help ensure consumer confidence and online trust. This collective union will seek to protect online commerce and promote innovation through collaboration. The steering committee provides an increased responsiveness and agility to emerging market trends, threats, issues which risk undermining the security and privacy of the internet through communication with other leading global organizations.
