Pitney Bowes Names Brand President, U.S. Mailing; Lakshmi-Ratan President, Document Messaging Technologies
STAMFORD, Conn., September 10, 2009 – Pitney Bowes (NYSE:PBI) announced today that Patrick Brand has been named president of its U.S. Mailing business, and Ramesh Lakshmi-Ratan is succeeding Brand as president of its Document Messaging Technologies (DMT) unit.
Brand is a 26-year veteran employee of Pitney Bowes who has excelled in numerous leadership positions during his career with the company. He has served most recently as president of DMT, a global business that is the market leader in high-speed, high-volume mail production equipment and support services. He previously served as vice president of sales and vice president of marketing at DMT, and before that held a series of roles of increasing responsibility in other parts of Pitney Bowes.
As president of U.S. Mailing, Brand is now responsible for the sales and profitability of a large and diverse portfolio of mailing equipment, supplies and service offerings to Pitney Bowes commercial, nonprofit and government customers nationwide. He is based in Stamford, Connecticut, and reports to Leslie Abi-Karam, executive vice president and president, mailstream solutions management.
Lakshmi-Ratan joins Pitney Bowes from the Direct Marketing Association (DMA), where he was executive vice president and chief operating officer. The DMA is the leading global trade association of businesses and nonprofit organizations that use and support multichannel direct marketing. He is a seasoned technology executive and entrepreneur who previously held senior leadership roles at VocalTec Communications, Yellow Pages, Packetup, AT&T Bell Laboratories, and Lucent Technologies. He is based in Danbury, Connecticut, and also reports to Abi-Karam.
