Pitney Bowes Recognizes Employee Innovation With 2009 Invention of the Year Award

STAMFORD, Conn., June 14, 2010 - Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE: PBI) announced that a team of employees was recently honored with the Company’s 2009 Invention of the Year Award. Bruce J. Barrows and Surya R. Sagi were recognized for their work on United States Patent Number 7,567,941, entitled Document Lifecycle Tracking System and Method For Use With A Document Production Process.

Each year, a panel of judges reviews those nominations from the patents issued to Pitney Bowes inventors during the previous year and selects the winner from these patents. This year’s winning invention is a significant part of Pitney Bowes DFWorks® Mail Management System which allows users to monitor the integrity of mission critical communications.

Tom Foth, senior fellow, was also recognized as a prolific inventor upon receiving his thirtieth career patent, joining the Pitney Bowes Patent Hall of Fame.
