State of South Carolina Selects Pitney Bowes' Group 1 Software for On-Demand Document Generation

DCS Document Composition Service enables real-time creation and distributed printing of court notices and other documents for Department of Social Services

LANHAM, Md., August 29, 2007 - Group 1 Software, Inc., a Pitney Bowes Company (NYSE:PBI), today announced that the State of South Carolina has selected its DCS Document Composition Service to enable real-time creation and distributed printing of court notices and other documents for its Department of Social Services.

The State of South Carolina needed to replace its legacy document composition system with one that was easy to use and could streamline its distributed printing processes. Now more than 200 users in the Department of Social Services can quickly modify existing templates to create customized documents. In addition, because case workers travel across the state, they need to be able to access documents stored in the repository and print them locally. DOC1®, running in the background on the central mainframe, generates the requested packets and routes them to the HP or IBM printer wherever the case worker is logged in. Group 1 Software also provides address validation and postal pre-sort technology for the State of South Carolina.

In the future, South Carolinas Division of the State CIO also plans to expand the use of DOC1 to additional state departments and agencies to provide document creation services for batch letters, notices, and on-demand documents for a growing number of users. The use of DOC1 will improve document efficiencies and enable the departments to effectively and efficiently communicate with their constituents.

Weve been very pleased with the service and support that Group 1 Software has delivered in the past, said Tim Smith, director of systems, networks and communications, South Carolina Department of Social Services. The DCS Document Composition Service provides the advanced functionality, ease of use and scalability that we were looking for to upgrade our document composition system and extend it beyond the Department of Social Services.

Being selected by the State of South Carolina to provide a document composition solution, in addition to the existing mail efficiency solutions, is a testament to the strength of both Group 1 Softwares technology and our customer service, said Christopher Baker, president of Group 1 Software. We look forward to expanding our relationship with this valued customer.

The DCS Document Composition Service is a cornerstone component of Group 1 Softwares On-Demand Business Edition, a bundled enterprise solution for creating documents at the point of customer contact, on location and in real-time, to help close business on the spot.
